Artist. maker. dreamer.
Kat Green is a contemporary abstract painter now based in High Point, NC, where she works out of Cohab Space—a creative nonprofit housed in a converted hosiery mill in the historic Southwest Mill District in High Point. She has been painting professionally for over 20 years, with work held in private and corporate collections across the U.S. and abroad.
Artist’s Statement
“My paintings are expressionist in nature, exploring impermanence as it relates to life and relationships. Part of my process involves creating ‘memories’—through shape, line, and mark—and then veiling them. Sometimes these marks remain vivid; more often, they’re obscured or entirely erased, much like the way our own memories shift, blur, or fade over time.
There’s no literal narrative in the work. Instead, the paintings speak to flux, loss, and the quiet evolution brought by the passage of time—echoing our own changing inner landscapes. As with all art, viewers bring their own meanings.”
